Our compassionate and friendly team understand that the thought of a tooth extraction can be scary. We’re highly experienced in helping nervous patients overcome their fear of the dentist, so they can go ahead with procedures like tooth extraction and work towards a healthier smile in the future.
Initial chat and examination: the first step is to thoroughly examine the tooth that’s causing problems, and perform a general inspection of your teeth and gums. Before the extraction, we will always check to make sure you’re feeling calm and relaxed.
Extracting your tooth: you will be given local anaesthetic to numb the area, and your dentist will remove the tooth carefully. Sometimes a small incision in your gum may need to be made to gain access to badly broken-down teeth. You may need some stiches if this is needed.
Aftercare: you will receive detailed but easy-to-follow material on how to look after your mouth after treatment. We encourage you to get in touch with us if you have any questions of worries in the days after the extraction – aftercare is as important as any other part of the patient journey.
Losing a tooth is never fun, and if you’ve just had a tooth extracted because of gum disease or decay, you may be considering adapting your oral hygiene routine to avoid problems in the future. We’re passionate about educating patients on how they can better their current oral health and hygiene routine, and provide support and guidance in achieving this. You can read all about our approach to preventive care here.
Say goodbye to toothache: post-treatment, you will find that any associated pain subsides.
Protect neighbouring teeth: extracting a tooth that’s severely decayed or infected can save neighbouring teeth from becoming affected by the same issues.
Beautiful bespoke restorations at Rosewood Dental: after a tooth extraction, we can discuss your options for replacing the missing tooth. We offer single dental implants, which are widely considered to be the best answer to tooth loss.
